You did WHAT?? Umm... Why???

I put the TV in the fireplace. (insert above title to post here___________)Ok, let me explain. This house is too small to begin with, and getting smaller as the boys get bigger. I grew up in this house as you know, and I don't ever remember having this much trouble with space. Of course back in the 70's you had 1 black and white tv and that was it, (color if you were lucky) Or you had a sterio console system that contained the turn table, speakers, and a place to house your record collection, all in a neat little cabinet. No computers, game systems, printers, fax machines, DVDs cable boxes, and all the rest. So I was getting ever more irritated by the cramped cluttered mess that was the corner of my living room. And don't get me started on the stupid fireplace that takes up most of 1 wall. Also, in addition to the 2 huge windows on either side of the fireplace, there is hardly anyplace to put a TV and all the junk that goes along with it. Add a sofa and loveseat end tables and you can see how cramped it all gets. SOOO in a birthday fit (I am allowed to throw one on my birthday) I got mad and told Dave that we had to do something to save space around here. That the fireplace is totally DEAD space, ( we NEVER use it for a fire too cheap to have it cleaned and apparently it has a dangerous crack in it) and we really need to put a flat screen TV on that space. However, we both agreed that it was not in the budget eventhough they are on sale and a good price. Long story short (too late I know) after deciding that cutting apart the TV stand on the Big Black TV was too much trouble, he says "hey how about if we shove the one in the garage in the fireplace. It will fit and most of it's butt will be inside so it will take up hardly any space" "OK" so we did. Ya know what? It actually looks pretty good! It fits the space we cleaned up the imfamous corner and I didn't have to spend $$$ on a TV that we really did NOT need!

happy new year

  1. You are a very smart woman. Well done! Wouldn't work here. The fireplace is sealed (gas) and we use it. BUT there is a hole sheet rocked over above the fireplace that I have every intention of knocking open one of these days...for the space.
